Driving from ct to ca in a couple weeks....any advice?

not the best time of year but this is not a vacation i have to make this trip for very important reasons so anyone that has some advice id appreciate it!!!Driving from ct to ca in a couple weeks....any advice?
It's not that bad

As a CT person you know all about driving in snow and dealing with cold weather

Basically you want to allow 4 days to this trip .

You can do it in 3 but it wears on you after two days of driving

Then you want to adjust your route to the weather

Ideally the fastest way from CT to CA is I-80 W to I-15 @ SLC

If you want to go to NoCal stay w/I-80 But check the weather over Donner Pass first -it may be chains required or just closed If that's the case then hole up somewhere between SLC %26amp; Reno until the weather clears over the Sierra Nevada

If you want go to SoCal just head south on i-15

If your primary destination is SoCal i would still use the I-80 W%26gt;I-15S routing But if you get to North Platte NE and you find out that I-76W%26gt;I-70W is clear and cold going over the Rockies then take it and enjoy the view

From CT to the Mississippi your weather choke point is the stretch of I-80/90 that goes thru OH %26amp; IN and sits right next to the Lakes and gets some really crappy as a result

If the weather is bad dip down and find I-70W

Enjoy your trip

and remember......tired drivers kill more people than drunk drivers doDriving from ct to ca in a couple weeks....any advice?
ya drive fast it will take you 8 or more days driving to make the trip and back??if you hit snow in colorado on i-80 it will be even longer drive?
